NHS WaitLess app

3rd February 2017

AF Film has been working with the Kent Community Health NHS Trust to produce a film promoting the launch of their new ‘WaitLess’ app. This app seeks to reduce waiting times in A&E by directing people to the most relevant treatment location for their injury.

Dr John Ribchester came up with the idea after seeing a similar app used in Spain. He said “When people sustain an injury…they often simply head to the nearest A&E department. What many people don’t realise is that a lot of minor injuries can be dealt with at several places in east Kent, not just our major hospitals. WaitLess can direct people with not so serious conditions to alternative sites where they can be treated faster, which in turn will help to reduce the pressure on our A&E departments.”

AF Film engaged actors, shot, directed and edited the film in collaboration with  Jo Treharne, Head of Marketing for Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. Working to a script and a tight deadline can be challenging but, thanks to the professionalism of everyone involved, the shoot went very smoothly. Thanks to Canterbury Rugby Club for allowing us to borrow their grounds and some of their players, as well as to our actors who performed so brilliantly whilst half-frozen on a cold January day in the middle of a field.

The film is already gaining attention with over 10 thousand views in its first week. We hope awareness will continue to spread about the WaitLess app so that everyone can benefit from the improvement in NHS services.
